On 24 October, while Mayor Rawlings-Blake spoke at a healthy food press conference at Whitelock Community Farm, and the University of Maryland Extension School sponsored a farmers’ market at John Eager Howard Recreation Center, John Eager Howard Elementary’s Green Ambassadors visited Great Kids Farm in Catonsville, Maryland.
The Green Ambassadors represent a selection of the best-behaved John Eager Howard students, from kindergarten through 5th grade, and they help lead some of the school’s newest greening initiatives. To prepare for opening John Eager Howard’s new outdoor classroom, last May the Green Ambassadors visited Kayam Farm in Reisterstown, Maryland. The trip to Great Kids Farm, a working farm operated by Baltimore City Public Schools, was a reward for the students who are helping to pick up recycling from each classroom every Tuesday. Thanks to Ms. Feig, Ms. Alter, and Ms. Petzel for these terrific pictures:
