Green Keepers have been busy this spring learning about trash and its connection to our waterways! When it rains, the rain carries litter from our streets down storm drains and then directly into our streams, harbor, and Chesapeake Bay. This trash then pollutes our water and makes it harder for animals, like crabs, to thrive in our waterways. After learning about how trash can impact our water and animals, Green Keepers wrote their own songs and skits and designed paintings for the storm drains around the school-- all to encourage others to throw their trash in a can and not on the street! Later this year, Green Keepers will decorate rain barrels, in order to make it easier to maintain the school's many gardens.
