Raising the Farm's new steel beam-supported hoop house (11/13/11)

Last weekend the Farm cleared the area next to the new retaining wall on Brookfield Ave. to make way for a new hoop house structure. The new and improved hoop house design, featuring steel beams in place of last year's PVC pipes, will double the length of the old hoop house. The method for assembling the hoops, however, remains the same:

Use a home-made bend-a-beam wooden contraption to ensure a uniform hoop curve:

Pull the steel beam against the curved wooden blocks:

Get all your friends to help:

And keep bending:

Carry the completed hoop past the manure pile to the new hoop house site:

Attach the hoop to the anchor posts set in the ground:
