The above picture of the Farm's hoop house was taken exactly one year ago on Halloween 2010. Over the course of the next 12 months, the hoop house survived (with strategic re-enforcements) blizzards, hurricanes, and just about everything else that a structure made out of PVC pipe and wood could handle. And under its pleasant plastic cover we were able to grow carrots, greens, and lots more throughout the course of the year. But another winter of wind and snow is likely too much for our humble hoop house, so you might have noticed that recently there has been a void at the Farm.
Can you see what's missing?
This Sunday 11/6, starting at 9am, come join us for the triumphant re-building of the new and improved Farm hoop house. The 2011-2012 model will feature steel support beams to make it the heartiest temporary green house this side of the JFX. So lend a hand--we'll be out there all day, or at least until the last door frame is secured.
Remember how much fun it was the first time we built it last October?
Raise your hand if you'd like to see the hoop house back at the Farm:
