John Eager Howard School to Create Outdoor Classroom

In a signifcant step in building its environmental programs and advancing toward Green School status, John Eager Howard School will this autumn create an outdoor classroom. The site is the courtyard in the center of the school. Below is how it looks now.

The school received grants from private foundations to create the new outdoor classroom, which will include raised beds for a garden that will serve the science classes and many others

Blue Water Baltimore is working with the school to remove the asphalt . The Whitelock Community Farm is advising the school on the construction of the raised beds and appropriate crops for autumn planting.

The children will be planting the beds in September. By October the outdoor classroom should be in full use.
