We Need You to CALL THE GOVERNOR to Protest Cuts to Public Schools

The Baltimore Education Coalition has been busy fighting the proposed cuts to Baltimore's schools.

  • Over 350 Baltimoreans attended the BEC Legislative Preview and pledged to call, tweet, collect postcards and come to Annapolis.
  • BEC presented to the Baltimore House delegation last Friday to share key information and keep the issue of reversing school funding cuts front and center.
  • BEC has been present in Annapolis every Monday night with dozens of activists visibly active as a voice for Baltimore's school children, meeting with elected officials.
  • 120 more activists will flood Annapolis March 9 to educate legislators, deliver postcards to the Governor's office and conduct a press conference.

Budget hearings have begun in Annapolis and the debate continues. Amid the noise, it is clear that the education cuts fall disproportionately on Baltimore with $35 million in cuts. The average school will be forced to eliminate 2-4 teachers. Principals are already preparing to submit budgets that eliminate art, music, guidance counselors, field trips and other programs essential to a good school.

We need you to make your voice heard loud and clear
with a simple message:

Do not balance the budget on the backs of our students. Hold harmless Baltimore's school children.

Restore the full $35 million in cuts, regardless of the cause.

Please see the below ACTION ALERT from BEC with directions on how you can make your voice heard by calling the Governor and sharing via social media!
