Callow Avenue Redevelopment Update

As many readers know, Healthy Neighborhoods,Inc. (HNI) is investing in the acquisition, redevelopment, and sale to homeowners of eight currently vacant houses on the 2200 block of Callow Avenue.   RHIC and HNI hope that this project will spur further investment by individuals and developers, which, together, can remove the last concentration of serious vacant house blight in Reservoir Hill.  Druid Heights CDC is the development partner in this initiative.  At present, Druid Heights CDC has purchased 2216, 2223, and 2225, and expects settlement shortly on 2220 and 2224.  Other properties on the 2200 block are still being pursued.  HNI is currently reviewing responses to a Request for Proposals for architects, and expects to select an architect in the coming weeks.  Work is expected to begin in late autumn.
