Planting bulbs in tree wells on the 800 block of Newington Ave. (11/6/11)

When we last updated you on Newington Avenue's greening activities, we  focused on all the work happening on the 700 block of Newington, including new trees, tree wells, wrought iron flower boxes, and gardens.  Not be outdone, over the past few months, residents on the 800 and 900 blocks of Newington have been gathering for monthly work days to fill all the street's tree wells--both new and empty-- with trees and flowers. This past weekend, neighbors organized a bulb planting day so all the new trees will be surrounded by color this spring.
