GREENING ANNOUNCEMENTS
- All CGRN workshops are FREE for CGRN members. Otherwise they will be a few dollars. If you become a CGRN member you will also receive free seeds and the use of tools and a discount for tool rentals. To become a member download the application at this website and send it to Sarah Krones at Parks and People Foundation:
http://www.parksandpeople.org/programs_great_parks_greening_CGRN.html
- We need volunteers to help fill new tree wells with soil and to plant new trees. These projects will be happening until the May 3rd Green Fair as well as on the Green Fair day. If you are willing to volunteer we will give you food and a appreciation. Please contact Christiana Usenza at 410-225-7547 or cusenza@reservoirhill.net.
- You can order recycling bins through RHIC. $5 for 18-gallon, $12 for 25-gallon bin. All recyclable items can go in the same bin. Pick up is every other Wednesday (2nd and 4th of each month). Call the office to order one! You can also use paperbags or boxes to recycle. Just mark them as “recycling”.
- The DPW is proposing that Baltimore City switch to the 1 + 1 plan, which means one day to pick-up trash and one to pick-up recycling per house, per week. If passed this will start July 1st. Until then we need to educate more people about recycling to encourage more households to participate! RHIC has flyers and have gone door-to-door with them to educate people about the single-stream recycling system and how to order bins through RHIC. If you are willing to drop these flyers off at house along your block we would appreciate the help! Please contact Rick Gwynallen or Christiana Usenza.
