LEADERSHIP ASSEMBLY
The Leadership Assembly is the assembly of representatives of RHIC Member Organizations. It meets quarterly to discuss issues facing the community, develop a community consensus where possible, and provide advice to the Board of Directors.
The Assembly was established in 2005 to create a forum for dialogue between community leaders. The monthly Community Meeting originated as just such an assembly, but by 2003 the monthly meeting had evolved to be primarily a meeting where anyone in the community could attend, become better informed on programs and issues, and have their voice heard.
Since its inception the Assembly has been important in forging community opinion. For example, at its September 2006 session, the Assembly reached consensus in favor of inclusionary housing legislation.
The Assembly’s biggest challenge is having consistent representation from a majority of RHIC Member Organizations. At present, 11 of 21 official Member Organizations have attended a majority of Assembly Meetings. Only six have attended all Assembly meetings. |
